We do not send out these emails very often, so if you do not remember signing up, know that you can unsubscribe yourself at any time. IMPORTANT: We are phasing out this email list. We are introducing a new mailing list to deliver more focussed AssistiveWare News updates. The new list will allow you to indicate your preferences so that we can keep you up to date a bit more frequently (about once every 1 - 2 months) with news that is relevant to your interests. As we will phase out the current list, we would recommend that you sign up for the new AssistiveWare News here:http://eepurl.com/bx_Uz In this newsletter we would like to share the latest news about Proloquo2Go and our Mac OS X software as well as upcoming events and a brand-new series of Proloquo2Go webinars. --- Product News --- Proloquo2Go 1.6 - Enhancements for users with hearing impairments, autism or fine motor control problems Version 1.6 of Proloquo2Go, our Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) solution for iPad, iPod touch and iPhone (see http://www.proloquo2go.com) is currently awaiting approval from Apple and is likely to be available within a few days. This is the second of a series of free updates we have in stock for you this year. Besides a number of bug fixes there are several important new features: - Added visual feedback when message window is tapped. - Repeated taps on the message window can now stop speech, restart speech, pause/continue speech or be ignored. - A repeat delay can be set on the message window and the vocabulary buttons to prevent users from repeating the same message or button(s) over and over again. - A hold duration can be set on the message window and the vocabulary buttons to prevent users with fine motor issues from accidentally triggering the wrong message or vocabulary button. - Auto-conjugation now supports possessives of proper nouns. - Two beautiful new voices were added: The American English female voice Tracy (included in the app) and Indian English female voice Deepa (free download in the app). - Word prediction can now be set to learn only correctly spelled words. - Auto-spacing now handles numbers and dates more intelligently. Auto-spacing can also be turned off now. We continue to be hard at work on other free updates that will, among other features, bring multilingual support, vocabulary enhancements, and many new symbols. Switch access is also expected later this year. Be sure to join our upcoming Proloquo2Go webinars covered in greater detail below. Mac products and Lion compatibility We are working hard on making all our Mac products work on Lion and expect to have them all up and running by the end of the month. Please wait with upgrading to Lion until we have released the updates. Some of the cool new Lion features such as fullscreen windows and Mission Control may not initially be fully usable by users of our access solutions, because this will require Apple to make certain changes in Mac OS X. Apple is aware of the issues and we are working with them to see what can be done, but nothing can be promised. --- AssistiveWare Events and Meeting Opportunities --- Proloquo2Go webinars This summer we will start with the first two series of Proloquo2Go webinars. One series will be geared at professionals and one series at users, family and caregivers. See http://www.proloquo2go.com/article/webinars for more information. Use the link at the bottom of this email to change your email preferences of AssistiveWare News to indicate you would like to be informed about the webinars. Note that to assure a quality experience, seating for each webinar session will be limited to 100 participants based on first-come-first-serve. We will repeat each webinar twice this summer and once we perfect the whole process we will also start recording the webinars. We expect the webinars to fill up quickly so be sure to join the sessions you are interested in early.
